Homes For Koalas
Join us in protecting koala habitats! Every donation directly funds the purchase of gum trees to restore and expand vital koala corridors.

Our Mission
Our mission is to protect and restore koala habitats by addressing the critical threat of habitat loss caused by urban expansion and land clearing. Through community support and donations, we plant gum trees to rebuild and expand vital koala corridors, ensuring a sustainable future for this iconic species. Every tree planted brings us one step closer to safeguarding koalas for generations to come.

Koalas are adorable, tree-dwelling marsupials native to Australia. They are known for their fluffy ears, large noses, and round faces. Despite their bear-like appearance, koalas are not bears at all but are marsupials, meaning they carry and nurse their babies in pouches.
Koalas spend most of their lives in eucalyptus trees, which are their primary food source. They are quite selective eaters, consuming leaves from only a few types of eucalyptus trees. Their slow-moving nature and tendency to sleep for up to 18-20 hours a day help them conserve energy, as eucalyptus leaves provide very little nutrition.
Unfortunately, koalas are facing significant threats to their survival, and there are concerns that they may be at risk of extinction.
Efforts to protect koalas, preserve their habitats, and raise awareness about the threats they face are critical in preventing their extinction. It's a tough situation, but with the right steps, there is still hope for the koala's future.
So we have started a project to Raise funds to build Homes For Koala’s. To do this we need to buy up land and stop development in Koala corridors. We are raising funds to buy land and plant eucalyptus trees to provide more safe homes for our iconic Koala.
Please give generously so we can make our mark on saving these precious native animal and their habitat for the next generation of young Australian.

The main threats to koalas are

Habitat Loss
Deforestation and land clearing for agriculture and urban development have severely reduced the number of eucalyptus trees, which are essential for koalas. Without their preferred habitat, koalas have fewer places to live and less food to eat.

Bushfires
Large bushfires in Australia, particularly those in recent years, have devastated koala habitats. The 2019-2020 "Black Summer" fires caused massive damage, killing thousands of koalas and destroying vast areas of forest they depend on. While some koalas survived the fires, many were injured or displaced.

Disease
Koalas are also vulnerable to diseases, such as chlamydia, which can cause infertility, blindness, and even death. Koalas in some areas are heavily impacted by this disease, further threatening their survival.

Climate Change
Changes in the climate can affect the availability of eucalyptus leaves and alter the koalas' habitat. Droughts, higher temperatures, and unpredictable weather patterns could impact both the quality and quantity of the food koalas depend on.

Human Interaction
Encroachment into koala habitats can lead to road accidents, dog attacks, and other forms of human-wildlife conflict that negatively impact koala populations.
