Australian Wildlife Week

Held During the First Week of October Each Year

Australian Wildlife Week 2024

Australian Wildlife Week, established by the Society in 2019, is celebrated nationally during the first week of October each year to encourage a positive relationship between humanity and nature.  Australian Wildlife Week will be celebrated this year from Tuesday, 1 October, to Sunday, 6 October 2024.

We are hosting an Online Webinar and Art Exhibition to celebrate Australian Wildlife Week and inspire community members to implement conservation actions to protect native flora and fauna and conserve natural habitats for future generations.

Online Webinar

Online webinar: Wednesday, 2 October 2024, 10:30 am - 12 noon (AEST).

The webinar showcased wildlife research and conservation projects across Australia.

We were joined by keynote speaker Andrew Cox (Chief Executive Officer, Invasive Species Council), who spoke about the importance of taking action against invasive species to safeguard Australia’s wildlife.  We were also joined by the Society’s 2024 University Research Grant and Scholarship recipients, who summarised their research and highlighted the importance of protecting Australia’s wildlife.

A recording of the webinar is available below.

Art Exhibition

The Museum of the Riverina will host the Society’s Art Exhibition, Australian Wildlife: A Journey Through Time, at the Museum of the Riverina - Botanic Gradens Site in Wagga Wagga throughout October 2024.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the importance of conserving Australia’s native wildlife. It takes the viewer on a journey through time, featuring some of the Society’s critical projects from its inception in 1909 to today.

We encourage community members to visit the exhibition and take action to preserve Australia’s precious wildlife and natural ecosystems.
